
Birender Yadav is an Indian multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in his personaland cultural background as part of a family of ironworkers. Growing up in the mining region ofDhanbad, Jharkhand, his work explores labor, caste, material memory, and the physicalrealities of industrial environments. Through sculpture, installation, photography, anddrawing, Yadav engages with the pain, endurance, and dignity embedded within laboringbodies and landscapes. His long-term engagement with brick kiln workers informs a practicegrounded in research, documentation, and collaboration.
Yadav was an artist-in-residence at the Pro Helvetia Studio Residency, Zurich, Switzerland (2019), and at Darling Foundry, Montreal, in partnership with What About Art? and SAVAC, supported by the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation and Tata Steel (2019). He has participated in major international exhibitions including the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (2025), the Indian Ceramics Triennale (2024), and the 12th Berlin Biennale (2022).
Birender Yadav currently lives and works in New Delhi, India.
